Tire Retailer To Debut Brand Icon at PIR in Phoenix on
No. 6 Ford Fusion for Busch Series Race |
Scottsdale, Ariz. - (April 17, 2007)
Discount Tire, also known as America's Tire, the
largest independent tire retailer in America,
announced today that its famed "Little Old Lady" icon will make its
NASCAR debut on the hood of the No. 6 Discount Tire Ford Fusion at
Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on April 20. |
The image, made famous by Discount Tire's "Thank You" TV commercial
and honored in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "Longest
Running TV Commercial," will been seen by fans during the Bashas'
Supermarkets 200 this weekend. |
"The Little Old Lady symbolizes our commitment to customer
satisfaction. She throws a tire through a Discount Tire store
window because it's her way of interpreting our no hassle return
policy," said Michael Zuieback, Discount Tire Senior Vice President.
"As the spot says, 'If ever you're not satisfied with one of our tires,
please feel free to bring it back'." |
The Thank You spot featuring the Little Old Lady still airs in all
Discount Tire markets throughout the country. |
This year marks Discount Tire's third full year as a Busch Series
sponsor, and first with their NASCAR racing partner Roush Fenway
Racing and rookie driver David Ragan. |
Roush Fenway and Discount Tire are also teaming together to create
a new TV spot featuring Ragan and fellow Roush Fenway teammates Greg
Biffle and Carl Edwards. The new spot is scheduled to begin running
nationally in June 2007. |
"Our participation in NASCAR and our association with Roush Fenway
echoes our commitment to being the best tire and wheel retailer in
the world," said Zuieback. |
Ragan, the full-time driver of the No. 6 Discount Tire Ford Fusion,
won his first NASCAR Busch Series pole position and recorded a
fifth-place finish at the O'Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway
this past weekend. |
